A LETTER FROM CHARLIE
MEMBER HEAD PGA PROFESSIONAL
Dear Geneva National Members,
We cannot thank you enough, the Geneva National Membership, for your dedication and strong support of the Club during these trying times of Covid-19. Your emails, calls, and in-person comments of encouragement mean the world to me and the entire staff. We are heading toward better days as we gradually ramp up our golf, social and fitness events while observing the current mandates.
Due to the uncertainty of the situation, we unfortunately had to cancel or postpone several golf events. The most unfortunate news is the cancellation of both the Men’s Pentacle and the Ladies’ Triple Crown member invitationals, as these are highlight events of the season. After considering how the events would be restricted by current health regulations, the committees decided to cancel the 2020 events with the quest to bring back bigger and better invitationals in 2021. In addition, we have also decided to put the Weekend League on hold until single rider carts and other restrictions are lifted. We will be releasing a detailed schedule soon.
Now for some good news. We are rolling out new one-day Member Guest events that will take place several times over the summer. The first such event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, and will feature best ball scoring and a low-key food and beverage offering. The Ladies-only one-day Member Guest will be Monday, July 13, the date that was to be the final day of the Triple Crown. Let’s all contact some friends and have them experience our fabulous Club for a day while enjoying some fun competition and camaraderie.
Next will be the year-long match plays of Men’s Presidents (2’s), Men’s Legends (Ind), Ladies Queens (2’s), Ladies Challenge (Ind). Due to time constraints and possible restrictions, we will consider the number of entrants and most likely break down these events into flights by handicap with numerous flight champions. To register, contact our Member Events Coordinator Jillian Giese at by Sunday, May 31. Brackets and matches will be posted by June 3 and deadlines will be strictly enforced, an overwhelming request of our Members so that your matches are completed by deadlines. No extensions will be granted.
The construction on Player 18 is coming along and scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks. It will be spectacular when completed and provide an exciting risk-reward finish to the course that was quite a vanilla finish previously.
Another bit of good news is the January 1 implementation of the new World Handicap System, which consolidates the six handicap calculations previously used around the world into one single, unified, portable Index. Simply enter your own scores online or in the new seating area located just off the Member bar area (once open). Your handicap is updated overnight and is current as of the day you play. The biggest change is there is no longer the need to calculate handicap differential from different tees. The handicap used is the handicap associated from the tees you choose to play; no more adjustments. Yeah!
Going forward all tee times will be made through central reservations at 262-245-7000. With the already shortened season we have a very high demand for tee times throughout all 3 courses. Coupled with losing numerous outings, weddings and hotel bookings golf is going to be an important vehicle for business success in 2020. With that being said you will see some non-member groups on the member course. We thank you in understanding as this is critical for our business viability this year.
In conclusion, we will get through these trying times together. It seems like a long time but soon we will be completing our rounds with the handshakes and hugs we all are missing and needing. If there is any issue that needs attention or discussing, my door is always open. Remember,
WE ARE GENEVA NATIONAL.
Hope to see you soon at the Club,
